SDNM have the pleasure of hosting Fabian Segelström from Linköping University, Sweden. The informal evening will provide the opportunity to discuss the future direction of Service Design research in academia and its relationship to commercial practice. Fabian will present an overview of his work and his engagements in this arena. The event will be on Wednesday, 21st March 2012, at 6.30pm at Huddle Design, L6 90 William Street, Melbourne.
Fabian is a final year PhD candidate and his primary area of focus is how service designers engage with users and other stakeholders during the early stages of the design process and how the insights gathered form the ideas generated during the project. He has published extensively on visualisations for service design and the usage of ethnographic methods to gather insights to inform the design process.
Throughout his PhD Fabian has also been involved in several other projects, such as co-authoring an overview of service design research for "This is Service Design Thinking", the organisation of the second edition of ServDes (2010) and the initiation of SDnext, an informal platform connecting PhD students in sevice design from all over the world. The first two projects have been in close collaboration with his Linköping colleagues Stefan Holmlid and Johan Blomkvist, whereas the latter is a joint initiative with Minka Rössner and Vanja Misic.
